Conexus donates $500,000 to The Globe Theatre
Conexus Credit Union invests in community and creativity through a $500,000 gift to The Globe Theatre’s capital campaign
[Regina, SK, August 27, 2026] – Conexus Credit Union and The Globe Theatre are announcing a landmark charitable gift and investment in the artistic, cultural and economic life of Saskatchewan and its capital city.
Conexus Credit Union is donating $500,000 to The Globe Theatre, standing up for a premier Regina arts institution and the next generation of Saskatchewan stories, artists, performers and audiences.
The donation directly supports downtown Regina and The Globe Theatre’s recent capital project, a generational renovation of the 68,000 square foot heritage building known as MacCorquodale Place.
“This gift is about community and cultural vitality in the very heart of our province’s capital city,” says Conexus CEO Celina Philpot. “We deeply understand that what makes Regina special for residents and visitors requires cultivation. Our credit union’s donation to The Globe Theatre aims to preserve the city’s heritage and enrich its cultural future.”
“Heritage buildings anchor us meaningfully to our past; art, then, brings us together as a city and province, connecting us to our future.”
Setting the stage
The Globe Theatre is a registered charity, and this gift from Conexus Credit Union ensures that Canada’s only permanent theatre-in-the-round can continue to entertain, educate and engage in the art of professional theatre through producing high-quality performances and providing theatre education for Regina and Saskatchewan.
Over 25 per cent of The Globe’s audience each season is made up of visitors from outside the city. Visitors come from throughout the province to experience live theatre, supporting many local businesses in the Queen City along the way.
In its last theatre season, The Globe welcomed 50,000 visitors to downtown Regina.
The Globe Theatre is a member of Cornerstone Credit Union becoming the new Conexus Credit Union. The credit union was the financial partner for the renovation of this historic downtown building.
“The Globe Theatre has been a cultural attraction and home to creativity for over 60 years. This gift from Conexus Credit Union helps us secure the future for the next 60 years of artists and audiences. We are deeply grateful to Conexus and Cornerstone becoming the new Conexus Credit Union for their commitment to Saskatchewan culture through both their gift and financial stewardship of the project,” says Oz Weaver, Executive Director of The Globe Theatre.
As a member-owned co-operative financial institution, Conexus is committed to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Conexus devotes 5 per cent of its pre-tax profits every year to community investment.

About The Globe Theatre
From their origins as a small troupe touring Saskatchewan schools, to the present as Canada’s only professional theatre-in-the-round, The Globe Theatre is a pioneer in the landscape of Canadian theatre.
The Globe Theatre has been bringing a season of theatre to Regina and the surrounding communities every year since 1966. Alongside mainstage performances, The Globe Theatre offers a variety of additional programming that includes our community black box theatre, play readings, new work development, digital programming and a dedicated theatre education program through the Boquist Theatre School.
Their evolving history of work on stage and in the community shows our vision and commitment to an optimistic future full of stories of transformation, resilience and hope.
